New Business:

Spring Meeting:

Sharon Harris reported some registrations have been received. It was agreed a Reminder should be sent. The same reminder will again ask members for suggestions for topics for speakers for the Fall Conference. Emmons will remind presenters that Bio material needs to be submitted. Presenters will be asked to prepare copies of hand-outs. If this is problematic for them, Stevenson agreed to arrange for printing. Audio visual needs will also be confirmed.

Means of recognizing Fall Conference sponsors was also discussed. The sponsor boards from the 2009 Fall Conference are no longer available. Board members will continue to work on ways to recognize the valuable sponsors.

2010 Fall Conference

Possible themes and topics for the October 6, 7, 8, 2010 Fall Conference in Eugene were discussed. All agreed social media such as Twitter and Facebook continue to be “hot topics” along with cyberspace and identity theft. An MMCS update was also proposed. Deborah Leopold Hutchins suggested Integrated Benefits could also be a beneficial subject. She has recently heard a speaker from Wells Fargo do a presentation that was thought provoking. Dwayne Kroening suggested a speaker from the Disability Management Association could be of interest. An update on the Oregon recovery progress was also proposed.

All agreed the presentation by Sari de la Motte, Nonverbal Solutions, was very well received at the 2009 Fall Conference. The possibility of asking her to present a workshop on Wednesday afternoon was discussed.

The possibility of obtaining CLE credits for a course was also discussed. Marcene Olson advised Dave Olson has a list of classes that could be presented for credits including topics such as understanding insurance policies, and insurance and contracts.

It was suggested that when a conference was held in Eugene several years ago, a dinner and tour of a Eugene area winery had been a success. Olson was asked to check on this possibility and report back to the Board.

Sponsor contacts were reviewed and assignments confirmed. Stevenson will re-send the “Benefits of Sponsorship” to Board members.

2011 Fall Conference

Olson presented proposals from several interested vendors. The Board agreed that either Hood River or Salishan appeared to be the best locations with the best pricing. Olson will send a survey to members asking for a vote on preferred location. A one-week response turn-around will be requested.

Chapter Service Award

A recipient for the Chapter Service award was discussed. Prior recipients will be researched. Stevenson will e-mail Board members with results.

Other Business:

Stevenson also reported she had been contacted by Washington PRIMA inquiring if the Oregon Chapter would like to join in a Regional meeting in 2011. They were reminded that Oregon was hosting the National Conference in 2011, but would consider a joint session in 2012.

Leopold Hutchins stated she had participated in the SB 311 meeting with the State. She said the message appeared to be sent to State Agencies to not alienate their partners – Agencies should decide on limits and they would be required to fund a “gap” if one existed. Stevenson reported she has been talking with Theresa Boes at the State and will be working to put together a small work group to address issues.

Adjournment:

Meeting adjourned at 2:10 p.m.
